Aker Solutions' controls, topside and hardware team based in our Reading offices are looking for a Product Support Engineer who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the market place.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Review all product NCRs raised in Manufacturing in order to identify and implement corrective / preventative actions to avoid recurrence
  • Responsible for leading the daily NCR review within the manufacturing plant
  • Assist and advise Product Support Engineers with the technical elements of NCR completion and technical queries; Support the First Article Build (FAB) process as the responsible FAB Engineer;
  • Maintain the FAB Record sheet, redline mark-ups of all documentation and be the conduit for assembly issues between Engineering and Manufacture

  • Raise Synergi cases on issues of concern and lead investigations to ensure that follow up actions (including preventative) are completed in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with Product Quality Group Lead(s) on issues identified and the corrective / preventative actions to avoid duplication of effort
  • Lead root cause investigations where required and monitor respective follow up actions to ensure timely implementation;
  • Lead fault analysis of product failures in the Fault Analysis Lab

  • Confirm compliance to, and if necessary, instigate Quality Audits to confirm adherence to Aker procedures and processes
  • Advise manufacturing on technical queries relating to the product documentation, engineering process and procedures liaising with other engineering groups as required.
  • Qualifications and Personal Qualities

  • BEng. or higher
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in SAP
  • Knowledge and understanding of IPC 610 / IPC 620 and J standards, and ESD controls and protocols
  • Knowledge of assembly, test and debugging of electro-mechanical / hydraulic assemblies at component level
  • Extensive knowledge of fault diagnostic tools and techniques
  • Working knowledge of mechanical repair and testing systems, wiring diagrams and wiring best practice, and / or hydraulic schematics
  • Be able to problem solve, seeking solutions through the expertise of both self and others, researching the facts with care and resolving problems in a timely and thorough manner.
