Job Description The Team

The Clara Analytics Team brings together of a group of talented individuals that share a creative mind-set and an ambition to drive innovation and quality on our audits through the use of data and analytics (D&A).

They support our external audit teams on their technology journey and ensure that we are delivering the audit of the future, today.

We are looking for a visualisation specialist to drive forward an aggressive expansion plan for the use of PowerBI on our audits.

We operate across all performance groups, meaning that the specialist will gain exposure to a wide range of KPMG clients across the UK and industry sectors.

The Role

The role will involve the design and build of PowerBI dashboards both for standardised industry offerings (e.g. Payroll, Insurance Claims) and for client specific bespoke work.

Detailed knowledge of each area is not required, but the specialist will need to demonstrate a general awareness of audit and analytical testing, and an ability to work with subject matter experts within the team.

As well a dashboard creation, the specialist may be required to support coaching of other members of the team, and input into technical decisions regarding the dashboard environment and data management process.

The specialist will also be expected to gather requirements from end-users, and translate these into effective and accurate dashboards.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on KPMG’s use of D&A in external audit, and is an ideal opportunity for those who wish to lead the implementation of a dashboard approach across a wide range of clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and build PowerBI dashboards for a wide range of business areas.
  • Design dashboards which balance the needs of end-users, technical capability and the types of testing performed.
  • Effectively collaborate with subject matter experts to understand the most accurate way of representing their results.
  • Complete requirements gathering workshops with senior audit stakeholders, and ensure that these are reflected within the dashboard design.
  • Input into the design data management architecture for specific bespoke dashboards.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching to peers.
  • Identify and assess potential innovations to enhance our dashboarding approach.
  • Self-manage dashboard projects, escalating any technical or business issues which impact on delivery.
  • Present prototype and completed dashboards to end-users and educate them in effective use of the output.
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and confidence to promote value of solutions
  • Advanced skills in PowerBI, or moderate PowerBI skills with advanced skills in an alternative dashboarding technology (e.g. Qliksense, Tableau).
  • Experience with a supporting data management or database technology (e.g. SQL, SSIS, IDEA) would be beneficial.
  • Ability to function effectively in challenging situations / circumstances.
  • Experience of working with a range of data sources and data types.
  • Experience of working with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a strong team player with excellent organisational skills
  • A flexible approach and ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and handle tight deadlines
  • Desire to learn new skills and challenge the status quo
  • Pro-active and innovative in approach
  • Confident presenter able to articulate how dashboards positively impact the audit.
