  • Purpose of Role :

  • To assist generally in the efficient running and management of the business
  • To help the Exposure Management team achieve its goals, with particular emphasis on the below areas
  • Responsibilities : Exposure Management :

    Exposure Management :

  • Developing geospatial analysis methodologies in support of Exposure Management and the Underwriting Analytics objectives
  • Designing, developing, testing, customising, maintaining, enhancing and documenting geospatial applications, programmes and reports
  • Manipulating and maintaining geospatial datasets
  • Producing maps and visualisation of hazard and other risk datasets, exposure accumulation and other analysis for : point-
  • of-underwriting analysis, cat-response analysis or as required by the business. Leading on cartographic design and high-quality map production

  • Assisting in the design, development and maintenance of the company’s GIS and coordinating on GIS initiatives with external stakeholders
  • Providing support to others in the development and application of GIS technologies
  • Identifying and acquiring spatial data to be used for risk assessment, exposure calculation, or as required by the business
  • Supporting the Database manager with the maintenance of the spatial analysis server
  • Supporting the Software License manager with the maintenance of the spatial analysis software
  • Regulatory Returns :

  • Assisting, as appropriate, with the preparation, development and submission of the RDS process
  • Reinsurance :

  • Providing spatial analysis information from the aggregate monitoring process to assist with planning the outwards reinsurance programme
  • Cat Response :

  • Providing spatial analysis information from the aggregate monitoring process to assist with the assessment of the financial impact of major events
  • Ideal Person Specification :

    Experience :

  • Appropriate experience in a geospatial / GIS role within insurance, financial services or risk consultancy sector
  • Experience of Direct and Treaty business
  • Experience within the Lloyd’s market desirable
  • Qualifications :

  • Degree (or equivalent) in relevant subject (e.g. GIS, Natural Hazards, Mathematics, Sciences)
  • Desired Skills :

  • Excellent knowledge of geospatial analysis software, ArcGIS and QGIS essential
  • Excellent knowledge of python modules within ArcGIS for geoprocessing and automation
  • Good SQL and R skills
  • Good Knowledge of Cat models (RMS preferred) and their back tables
  • Good understanding of data extraction and report building
  • Knowledge of various classes of business across both Direct and Treaty business
  • Excellent attention to detail
