Primary Purpose :

To lead, develop and grow a new business stream focused on the delivery of Smart Maintenance Services for utility clients that leverages and extends B&V’s existing capabilities in asset management, professional services consulting and design / build.

B&V define Smart Maintenance as Using data, information and technology to delivery maintenance services that reduce waste and assure optimised, cost, risk and performance .

This role will build upon B&V existing services of Lean Reliability Centered Maintenance, data, B&V’s proprietary web-based software ASSET360 (which includes a 24 / 7 monitoring and diagnostic center) and Process MEICA engineering.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Work alongside and support functional delivery leaders across Asset Management, Professional Services and Design Build P&Ls to achieve the strategic and financial objectives
  • Incorporate the wider Information Management (IMA) service offers into Smart Maintenance - collaboratively developing innovative and unique approaches that give a differentiated and exclusive position for B&V
  • Build and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Define and implement a marketing and sales plan for Smart Maintenance Services
  • Ensure excellent quality in delivery to the agreed cost and time targets at zero harm to our professionals and all other stakeholders
  • Develop the talent and capability of the Smart Maintenance function to deliver industry services
  • Team responsibilities management, talent development, reviews / appraisals, retention and recruitment
  • Exploit cross-selling of opportunities within B&V
  • Key relationships and personnel for whom this person will be responsible :

  • The Smart Maintenance Services Manager will report to a senior manager role and work closely with the head of Asset Management, Professional Services and Design Build P&Ls
  • This role will require the direct management of project / contract managers and delivery professionals whom in turn with be managing a blend of MEICA and IMA staff (permanent and via supply chain)
  • This role will be a blend of business development, service delivery and technical authority in the Smart Maintenance function, working closely with existing project managers and engineering professionals across B&V
  • Close relationships with the IMA Manager and their wider team will be essential in supporting existing services and developing new ones
  • Required :

  • Prior experience of building and delivering successful maintenance services at scale including delivery of reliability centered maintenance services and use of data.
  • Excellent insight and forward thinking strategic capability in Smart Maintenance approaches and requirements combining traditional maintenance practices with the latest technology and future disciple developments
  • Excellent client engagement and relationship capability and experience to win and delivery new business
  • Sector experience across Water and / or Energy utilities, with preferable additional Renewables experience
  • Successful people manager with proven capability in cultural and behavioral change programmes
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to build and leverage cross-internal / inter-departmental relationships
  • Effective and compelling communicator internally and externally, both written and oral
  • A professional Engineering qualification would be a strong preference. Alternatively, an IT software background would be of interest
  • Membership of the Institute of Asset Management and / or and Engineering Institute would be preferable
  • Special requirements : Willing to be flexible in working location with approx. 40% UK-wide travel from agreed office base

    Educated to technical degree level (Third level technical qualification)

    Academic & profess’l qualif’ns : Membership of the Institute of Asset Management and / or Engineering Body

    Background & experience :

  • Experience in maintenance management (direct delivery and / or sub-contracting) for asset intensive industries
  • Experience in utilising digital solutions
  • Contract negotiation and management skills
  • Project and Programme management skills
  • Sales and business development sills
  • Knowledge base :

  • Utility sector knowledge and contacts across clients and supply chain organisations and relevant industry bodies TOTEX investment decision making tools and techniques
  • Skills :

  • A high level of constructive challenge and questioning ability
  • Personal attributes :

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proactive positive attitude with the ability to work with a wide range of personalities and disciplines
  • Proactive and self-managed within agreed strategic direction to achieve agreed outputs / outcomes
