Role Overview :

The Bid Manager, as a member of the EnvironmentPre-construction Team is responsible for leading the successful preparation anddevelopment of bids for projects and frameworks within the all sectors.

Typicalproject values will be £5m to £100m+ including both Frameworks and individualprojects as either Galliford Try in a standalone capacity or as part of a JointVenture.

The Bid Manager willpromote the Galliford Try business, seeking out and advancing businessdevelopment opportunities to drive revenue into the Environment Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities :

Within this role you will be responsible for completion of high quality winning submissions for PQQsand tenders in line with identified deadlines.

You will conduct reviews of previous submissions anddocument learning for implementation in future bids; and produce promotional materials and submissions.

  • Your day to day responsibilities will include the following :
  • Managementand leadership of bid team and the overall bid preparation process
  • Generatingbid win strategies to maximise chances of winning the project at commercialsustainable rates
  • Maintainingclear direction of bid team to deliver agreed win strategy
  • Developinginnovative and creative approaches where appropriate to differentiate the bid
  • Preparingsubmissions in line with the bid and corporate requirement
  • Draftingand reviewing written responses;
  • Establishment,agreement and management of the bid budget
  • Managetender design requirements for the tender
  • Coordinationwith Business Unit Operations and Technical Specialists and potential jointventure partners / strategic supply chain members
  • Maintaina knowledge of alternative technical solutions with a view to being able toresolve tender solutions through innovation
  • Identificationof deliverables and production of submission matrices identifyingresponsibilities for elements;
  • Productionand agreement of bid programme identifying key dates for the submission ofinformation, review dates, deadlines and production of the bid
  • Engagementof wider Galliford Try and potential joint venture partner teams to providespecialist support and advice
  • Drivingprogress and tempo of bid
  • Reporton progress to Preconstruction and Business Unit Management
  • Arrangeand chair bid team meetings, preparing meeting agendas, issuing updates andclarifications to the bid team;
  • Arrangeand chair submission reviews and circulate feedback
  • Arrangementof and leading bid related meetings with Infrastructure and Constructiondirectors
  • Maintaina register of the bid clarifications issued and received
  • Completeand update the bid pursuit plan
  • Ensurebids are submitted on time and to the required standard
  • Representthe company at Client meetings and presentations
  • LeadCommercial and Quality reviews and finalisation
  • Obtainfeedback on submissions and share with Preconstruction team
  • Implementationof areas for improvement received through feedback process
  • Ensurecompliance with the Galliford Try Processes
  • Seekto drive continuous improvement in the Pre-Construction team
  • Form effective relationships with other teammembers with ability to lead with minimal direction
  • Contribute to case studies,project review sheets and other marketing documentation

    Experience and Qualifications :

    To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following competencies :

  • Proven success in winning bids / tenders,including exposure to National Frameworks
  • Excellentwritten English and communication skills
  • Good technical understanding of the UKregulated sectors including Water and Energy as a minimum
  • Gravitas and profile to lead diverse bidteams and ability to influence
  • Ability toreview and ensure amendment to bid documentation to optimise winning potential
  • High qualitypresentational skills and ability to present to a varied audience includingclients, joint venture partners, supply chain and internal
  • Track recordof successfully managing multiple bids
  • Highlyorganised and methodical approach.
  • HND / HNC or Degree level qualification
  • Recognised Bid Management qualificationis desirable
  • Experience of leading successful bidsfor Framework and Individual project opportunities in UK Regulated Sectors
  • Willingness and ability to travelthroughout the UK and to work for short periods in other GT offices / JV Offices
