About the roles

ACC's Injury Prevention Programmes are part of inter-agency efforts that are making great progress in reducing New Zealand's injury rate.

As a Senior Injury Prevention Specialist or Injury Prevention Specialist in the Violence Injury Prevention team you will be responsible for developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating a range of injury prevention programmes and initiatives.

The scope of the work is broad and has cross overs with a number of teams, so requires a multidisciplinary approach. If you have a background in violence prevention and / or cross agency experience, we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • planning and development of programmes by identifying target groups to understand the injury problem through root cause analysis
  • working with external and internal partners to design effective, sustainable programmes that will reduce the incidence and / or severity of sexual and violence injuries
  • taking into account population diversity and customer needs in the design and implementation of programmes and initiatives
  • contract and project management
  • establishing strong relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally.

    What we're looking for the following varied set of skills :

  • Relationship management
  • Project and programme management
  • Problem solving
  • Development in education programmes and intervention logic
  • Practical experience in creating sustained change is desirable, as is either relevant sector knowledge or the ability to acquire it quickly
  • Tertiary or an advanced qualification in an appropriate discipline such as business, marketing, health service or occupational safety and health is a requirement
  • The Violence Injury Prevention team focuses on reducing the incidence of suicide, family violence injuries, and sexual violence injuries.

    As such, you will be working in and around information that addresses those topics and incidences on a daily basis. Please consider this and your tolerance to the subject matter carefully prior to lodging an application.

    Depending on the successful candidates skills / experience, we will look to appoint at either an Injury Prevention Specialist or a Senior Injury Prevention Specialist level.
