Operations Controller Serco Marine Services - Portsmouth Full time, permanent Salary : Competitive Purpose of role : To be familiar with Marine Services Portsmouth Contract, Statement of Requirement (SOR), including the procedures for demanding of ad hoc services.

Main duties : To allocate assets manned by suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SEQP) to fulfil the SOR and meet commercial commitments.

To plan and programme the daily requirements of the Customer including the support of commercial activity. To monitor and maintain annual leave, absence and attendance records.

To be the point of contact between afloat crews and the Operations Co-Ordinator. To support the Operations Co-Ordinator in the performance of his / her role.

The allocation of assets to meet the operational requirement including commercial activity. Informing Customers of any changes in allocated assets to meet tasking requirements.

To liaise with all staff with regard to delivery of the operational requirement. To advise and communicate via VHF Radio navigational safety warnings and other instructions as received to afloat staff.

Recording statistics relating to the SOR and commercial in a recognised and approved system. To fulfil, on a rotational basis, the functions of the out of hours Duty Manager.

To liaise with Vessel Superintendents to co-ordinate maintenance downtime. To liaise with commercial companies for asset allocation.

Point of contact for stood down and oncoming crews. Initial focal point for co-ordination in emergencies and exercises. To ensure all vessels have full access to all relevant information / references e.

g. Ports Nav Warns, Ports General Directions, Ports Local Notices to Mariners To ensure all vessels are correctly manned to meet operational output.

To attend meetings with and on behalf of the Operations Co-Ordinator regarding operational matters. Raising of purchase orders.

Co-ordination of out of port tasking. Skills, knowledge and qualifications : Radio Operators Certificate. Health and Safety awareness.

Manual Handling awareness. ISM code awareness. Information Technology basic skills required in word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.

Marine industry background Experience of port operations and the provision of towage, fuel, water and other services. A working knowledge of merchant shipping requirements for smaller commercial vessels.
