Our Aberdeen based client is looking for an R&D Project Engineer (Battery Specialist). As part of our ongoing battery and systems Research and Development we are looking for a driven Project Engineer to join our team to coordinate our internal and external battery research and development projects.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians the primary focus of the role will be on the development and maintenance of our client's extensive battery test systems, and the analysis of the associated data.
In addition to the above the R&D Project Engineer will work within a team of people from operational and engineering disciplines, dealing with all aspects of project work from concept through to delivery.
This includes research into novel solutions, developing test systems & methodologies, and analysis of test data with a view to provide guidance on future development.
Principal Duties : -
The Project Engineer will be required to :
Lead ongoing in-house testing of batteries.
Analyse and report on large datasets collected from in house battery tests.
Supervise the design and testing of down-hole battery packs and related equipment.
Co-ordinate the external testing and qualification of batteries and battery packs.
Liaise with sub-contract manufactures of battery packs.
Work with other team members on the design, development and project management of electronic and electro-mechanical down-
hole wireless technology
Capture requirements, write specifications and work with all the technical disciplines to develop project timelines and deliver and report on these.
Keep abreast of developments and new technologies within the high temperature battery industry.
Mentor other staff.
Required Knowledge & Experience : -
Degree level qualification, or extensive working experience in a relevant role
A background in one of the following : Data AnalysisElectronic EngineeringPhysicsChemistryResearch & Development role in a relevant fieldStrong analytical and report generation skill
Desirable Knowledge & Experience : -Background in one or more of the following areas : Experience leading projectsA background in electrochemistry is desirable but not essential, however a willingness and aptitude to acquire knowledge in this area is essentialExperience in the development of electronic downhole toolsOil and gas industry experienceFamiliarity with databases, SQL, and related technologiesExperience working with lithium batteriesElevated temperature lithium battery operation and testing requires a keen attention to be paid to safety, prior experience of hazard and risk analysis is therefore desirable
