We are looking for a volunteer to visit some of the people we support at Wheldon Mews. You will provide a new face for the people we supportand will visit them in their own homes.
You will be a creative person who isn’t afraid to offer new experiences to the people we support. You will be able to build a supportive relationship with the person you are visiting and visit up to 6 times a year at a time convenient to both parties.
There may be times when you will be visiting the beneficiaries alone, but support can be provided to help build confidence to both parties.
There may also be opportunity to work alongside experienced staff in a variety of roles.
Social Isolation is a big issue for many older people in our society Over 200,000 older people have not had a conversation with friends or family in over a month (Age UK, 2017).
Through being a volunteer with Mencap you actively taking steps to reduce social isolation and help keep someone company who may not have family nearby, or have the opportunity to form lasting friendships.
