Where you’ll work
This position is to join our team of dedicated Technicians working at the Veolia Workshop in Croydon. The site offers a full range of service, maintenance and repair working on a modern fleet of commercial vehicles and mechanical sweepers.
Daily work is varied and the successful applicant should be an experienced and successful Technician capable of working independently without direct supervision.

What you’ll do
As the Workshop Technician you will be required to inspect, service and repair the full range of vehicles and equipment as directed, to relevant legal standards.
You willConduct daily duties in a safe working manner whilst adhering to QHSE obligations under the Health and Safety at work Act1974 and follow the code of safe working practice in your work place, attend all tool box task and safety briefs.
You will be required to conduct before use checks on all tools, lifting equipment, access equipment and vehicles. Quarantine and report defective equipment and report any unsafe acts, hazards, defective equipment to your supervisor and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
As the workshop technician you will maintain your work area and keep your work area free from hazards. You will be responsible for inspecting and servicing all vehicles, plant and equipment in line with OEM minimum standards and carry out vehicle safety inspection in line with group fleet policy.
You will maintain, prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT testing at specified DVSA approved ATF and complete all aspects of vehicle inspection documentation in line with group fleet compliance policy, you will complete technical training when required, complete job cards and associated paper work in a timely manner and be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

Skills & Qualifications required for the role
To enable you to carry out this role you will hold a City &Guilds Level 3 in HGV mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering qualification, IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician accreditation desired or willing to achieve, hold a LGV licence and have experience in use of diagnostic tools (TEXA, STAR, EASY etc.
Hydraulics : Electrical systems) possess personal basic engineering tool kit (Air gun, Spanners, Sockets, Screwdrivers etc.
and experience in maintaining waste vehicles is preferred, not essential as fully training will be provided. You will ideally hold a valid DCPC qualification, however the DCPC is not essential, yet preferred.
