As a Data Lead you will form key working relationships across all areas of the Business to lead the management and improvement of data across the organisation.

Key responsibilities :

  • Oversee and Lead the delivery of the data management strategy including periodic reviews to ensure strategy is aligned to wider business goals
  • Lead team members
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for data management
  • Plan specific pieces of work and keep stakeholders informed
  • A member of Data Steering Group to improve the use of all data across the business
  • Drive the use of data as a strategic asset and operationalise data governance, data quality and other controls to sustain the integrity of the data assets of AJ Bell
  • Promote, lead and deliver good data management practices across AJBG
  • Define and implement Data Quality standards and support the business to identify areas of poor data quality.
  • Help to support the business to understand their data problems, take responsibility for them and utilise the data management function to support the business needs
  • Work alongside development teams and Solution Delivery to ensure data is taken into consideration in all features in the software development lifecycle
  • Analysing existing data quality rules, data sources and business needs to create a fit for purpose data quality measurement rule set
  • Support where needed any regulatory changes
  • Develop & maintain inventory of business data including information maps, data dictionaries and data models, including authoritative system, business rules and data owners
  • Creation and management of data related policies
  • Liaise with third parties to ensure business data quality is kept to agreed standard
  • Knowledge, competence and skills :


  • Good business analysis experience alongside significant experience of working in data disciplines, particularly data quality measurement and reporting, gained within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Good understanding of risk and risk management
  • Good knowledge of data types
  • Good understanding of the information lifecycle through experience in data management and Data Governance.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to the management of data
  • Knowledge of data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand complex processes
  • Knowledge of T-SQL and Microsoft SQL server
  • Knowledge and experience of investment platforms and wealth management systems (Composer / Figaro) would be advantageous
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a mathematics / statistics discipline
