Our Manufacturing Plant at Walton Road is looking forward to welcome a

Objective :

This is a unique opportunity to work for a large and dynamic global organisation. A position has become available for a Production Manager who will control the planning and manufacturing processes for a major range of filter housings from receipt of materials through to final dispatch.

This will be achieved, in accordance with customer requirements, by continuous development and improvement of the manufacturing facility.

And to enhance and improve existing methods of manufacturing planning to ensure that production capacity, equipment and labour are available to achieve required output and foreseeable additional demands.

In this role you have :

Line Management Responsibility :

The Production Manager is responsible to upto 40 associates including highly skilled machinists, indentured trades, store persons, inspection staff, welders, fabricators etc.

Responsible for improving and motivating the team through improved methods of manufacture.

The Production Manager should be able to demonstrate strong leadership characteristics, excellent communication skills and proven man-management ability.

Financial / Budget Responsibility :

The Production Manager will be accountable for the management of overhead and direct cost expenditure within annual capital expenditure budgets.

Accountable for consumable, tooling and labour costs. To be involved with, in conjunction with Purchasing, ordering, procurement and expediting.

Main tasks are :

  • Management of people (40) and equipment to fulfill production plan
  • Manage interface with subcontract processes
  • Resource planning to meet demand profile
  • Facilitate resolution of production problems to achieve on-time delivery
  • Ensure products are built to relevant quality standards
  • Champion Health & Safety in the manufacturing area
  • Control labour inputs wthin budget constraints
  • Implement continuous improvement projects as agreed with Operations Manager
  • Environmental Compliance
  • House Keeping - 5S
  • Other :

    HR matters as agreed with the Operations Manager to include

  • Disciplinary issues
  • Absence & return to work interviews
  • Qualifications

    The successful applicant will have :


  • Ideally qualified to HNC / degree level in Mechanical / Production Engineering
  • The Production Manager should considerable experience in management in a similar environment (pressure vessel production).
  • Experience in a small to medium batch manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge & Key Skills :

  • Demonstrable success in managing and growing a multi function labour orientated manufacturing facility, preferably manufacturing high value engineered products.
  • Proven skills in managing a highly skilled workforce and the ability to create an environment which is conducive to change.
  • Excellent production planning and co-ordinating skills.
  • Excellent technical and engineering knowledge. Familiar with Welding and Fabrication.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Vessel manufacture
  • Champion Health and Safety in the Value Stream
  • The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the following attributes :
