OCS are embarking on a major programme of technology transformation which will deliver significant new capabilities both to our clients and our internal organisation.
To support this, we are looking for a technically strong Head of Solution Architecture to develop and execute on high level architectures for projects that make best use of our existing and emerging technologies.
This role reports to the Group CTO, and is accountable for ensuring that the content of OCS project architecture deliverables accurately reflects the current and future capabilities of the OCS application and infrastructure estate.
You will analyse and document solution options, support any procurement activities and own the development of all solution architecture documentation, working closely with the wider IT team to develop proposed solutions that meet customer and business requirements, align to the IT strategy and principles, and are scalable and extensible to meet future needs.
You will work with delivery partners and technology vendors to ensure that detailed design and build activities conform to your high-
level architectures, and will manage any architecture risks and issues that arise during the process.
You will run and administer a technical design authority to govern project architecture deliverables, and will maintain architecture risk and decision logs and a repository of architecture documentation.
You will contribute to the development of a new enterprise architecture practise, including the creation of current and future state architecture models, architecture principles and standards and architecture processes, and the communication of these across the organisation.
Your recent experience will mainly be with enterprise applications, enterprise integration (ESB, ETL, SOA), process automation and enterprise information (warehousing, reporting and analytics).
A solid understanding of infrastructure and security architecture is also required for this position.
Responsibilities will include :
Using documented business requirements, develop solution options and high level architecture documentation and manage the approval and sign off process
Engaging IT resource as required to ensure alignment to IT strategy, architecture and principles and safe service introduction of your solutions
Contributing to the development of current and future state architecture models, architecture principles and standards and architecture processes
Developing long-term relationships with colleagues, delivery partners and technology vendors
Managing risks and issues associated with the architecture process and escalate where necessary
Responding to project requests in a timely fashion
Reporting regularly on progress to relevant governance forums and bodies
Experience required :
Education / Qualifications
A good level of education
No formal qualifications are required for this role; however, exposure to TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL, CoBiT, Prince2 frameworks or similar would be an advantage
Working experience / Personal attributes
Strong experience in solution architecture with a background in technology (business applications and enterprise integration in particular).
Experience of working in a facilities management environment is advantageous
Exposure to IT architecture processes and best practise
