Job Description

To support the growth of Crude Trading across India, Med, Africa and Caspian region, by supporting and help closing out crude oil Business Development projects.

To support the general development of the Trading business, prospecting for and originating new

opportunities, and to develop strategy in close association with the Low Sulphur (LS)Trading desk.

In achieving these aims it is intended to maximise the use of cross business relationships

within Shell for the benefit of Trading and Group. The team therefore works closely with

Downstream Supply, Strategy & Portfolio and Future Fuels; Upstream, Shell Global Solutions

and Gas & Power.

The role offers learning and growth opportunity for high capacity individuals from varied functions and possibly no direct trading experience but proven to possess high calibre.

The role could suit someone willing to start all over and learn by leveraging the existing skills to enter the exciting crude trading world

Accountabilities

  • Identify, originate and deliver specific Business Development growth opportunities for Crude Trading in line with the Trading desk plans and sponsorship, undertaking appropriate research and analysis.
  • It will include the development of term crude supply agreements with refineries, which may involve crude for product swaps or processing deals as well as potential storage and logistics opportunities.

  • Project manage identified development opportunities and lead project teams driving for efficient and successful delivery.
  • Develop and maintain key Trading customer and business relationships that are complimentary to those held by the Trading desks.
  • Create innovative solutions to meet customer requirements whilst maximising the value of tradable options and taking due account of all risks including credit, price risk, HSSE and Group reputation.
  • Support negotiation of substantive commercial agreements, which could involve structured financing requirements.
  • Maintain data base, gather market intelligence and be the coordinator of the BD funnel, challenging and supporting the BD managers and projects as and when required.
  • Requirements

  • High capacity individuals with expertise in refinery economics looking to enter the core trading arena are invited to apply for this role.
  • Experience in being associated with trading business from a refining side and having full technical understanding of crude valuation, LP and crude supply chain.
  • Complimentary skills in structured financing, oil contract / project management and crude oil trading is highly valuable.
  • Strong evidence of high level of intelligence, commercial acumen, consistent delivery, able to grasp new concepts very quickly and highly numerate
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and to use this to sell ideas to customers.
  • Commercial mind set and Business Development experience, atleast supporting deals from refining or finance function is desirable
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities.
  • Experienced negotiator
  • Ability to challenge the status quo hunger for getting deals done and generating value.
  • Go-getter who has fire in the belly and will turn over every rock
  • High sense of ownership and accountability for the deal process
