We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking and above all, likes everyone to enjoy their cooking! This job is pivotal to a smooth running nursery and very happy children.

Not only will you be cooking for up to 100 children depending on the occupancy, but you may be required to host a cooking class for the children.

Please Note : This is a casual role and therefore you will be required to cook at various Tops Day Nurseries across Bournemouth and Poole area.

About You

We are looking for someone who has proven experience within a similar position, cooking for a large number of people in mass.

You must also have experience in cooking for people with dietary and cultural conditions, ensuring you meet these requirements.

You must also have basic food hygiene qualification at Level 2 or above, and any other related qualifications would be beneficial.

Due to the nature of this role, it would be beneficial for you to have a valid UK Drivers Licence and your own transport.

A clear and valid DBS is paramount and overseas applicants will need a clear and valid certificate of good conduct. Please note we will conduct a suitability check prior to interview.

Your Responsibilities and Duties will involve :

  • Ensure the hygiene and conditions of the food preparation, from ordering to clearing meet the standards as required by the law.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and tidy (cupboards kept clean, fridge / freezer defrosted regularly, oven cleaned regularly).
  • Involve yourself as a leading team member of food hygiene team, to ensure that all aspects of food hygiene law adhered to.
  • Provide meals that children enjoy and to encourage other children to see how good it is and want to have the same!
  • Ensuring food is purchased in good time and within budget.
  • Ensuring any celebrations / dietary needs etc. to be taken into account when costing.
  • Ensuring meals are tailored to the dietary and cultural needs of those requiring them. The meal should be balanced and nutritious, avoiding colourings, preservatives and flavourings if possible.
  • Leading a cooking class for the children one day a week for three hours
  • To be committed to the safe guarding of all children in the nursery
