The Senior Development Engineer role functions as a core member of the QUE$TOR product team; they will be involved in identifying opportunities to improve the product, leveraging technical expertise to scope and model product enhancements, and work with the team to solve issues and improve the product and the users experience.

The role also provides engineering knowledge to support our internal and external clients on field development modelling and technical project definition.

Working with the Product Manager and as part of a team of engineers and analysts they will play critical role in product delivery and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities shall include :

  • Develop technical algorithms and design specifications for estimating cost of equipment, materials and services used in oilfield activities and the development of facilities
  • Communication of the design specification and user experience to the development team
  • Provide technical expertise, market understanding, knowledge, and experience to the product and development team
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the current and potential client base to build a clear understanding of their requirements to make sure product development meets their needs
  • Provide advanced technical and product expertise to internal and external clients through pre-and post-sales support, training, client discussions
  • Create and continually develop subject matter expertise through contributions to projects and though supported independent learning
  • Present to client on QUE$TOR and related topics as needed to aid in client support, communication and business development.
  • Contribute to new projects and support other teams within IHS Markit
  • Support product management and the product team on product related activities as needed.

  • Suitable candidate must have :

  • Bachelors or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in a technical or engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years of oil & gas experience, cost estimation or product development experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently but also contribute and engage as part of a larger team to achieve a common goal
  • A resourceful problem solving nature to think around a problem rather than through it
  • Willingness to get on with assigned work but also be assertive and willing to present an alternative perspective
  • Ability to focus on a highly detailed problems but also able to step back at any time to view the larger picture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 25%)
