The Role

Working with the Head of Communications, the will help shape and have responsibility for delivering the internal communications (IC) strategy and will support with corporate communications for the Hastings Group so all of our 4Cs stakeholders (Colleagues, Customers, Company and Community) feel engaged and motivated to help us deliver our objectives.

Although based at our UK HQ in Bexhill or our sister site in Leicester, we do support flexible working with up to 2 days a week working from home.

You are trusted to manage your workload effectively and efficiently, prioritising the needs of the business.

  • Your remit will include the following;
  • Work with the Head of Communications to evolve the communications strategy that supports the Company’s overall vision and strategy.
  • Work closely with the PR Manager and Communications Executive to make sure that the internal and external story are aligned and consistent.
  • Responsible for developing and delivering key internal communication campaigns that support pan-Company 4Cs key initiatives and objectives.
  • Work with business areas to identify, draft and deliver appropriate internal content that effectively shares the Hastings story with key stakeholders through relevant channels.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of all core communication channels including intranet, weekly
  • news update, and posters TV screens.
  • Act as the Internal Communications Partner to critical business areas, including Retail and Claims, providing subject matter expertise to internal senior leaders and stakeholders to help them communicate effectively with their teams.
  • Continuously develop communication channels to promote dialogue and improve two way conversations.
  • Manage and measure feedback channels, surveys and results.
  • Support with corporate communications and provide out of hours and / or emergency cover for Public Relations Manager as needed.
  • Be the recognised deputy for the Head of Communications.

    Required experience and skills

  • Significant Internal Communications experience gained either in-house or agency. PR experience desirable.
  • Proven success developing and delivering communications campaigns and initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of managing intranets / content management systems and social media.
  • Relationship management influencing and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Professional role model and ambassador of company values.
  • Competent analytical skills to measure and interpret feedback data
  • Microsoft Office and CMS platforms, e.g. SharePoint, WordPress
  • Advantageous Experience

  • Communications qualifications or training desirable, e.g. CIPR qualification, Melcrum black belt
