The SF Group are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant job. This is a great opportunity with our client in Nottingham.

Responsibilities include a range of accounts tasks such as downloading of daily bank statements, reconciliation of statements, use of Excel to update spreadsheets and produce reports, purchase ledger, supplier statement reconciliations.

As the successful Accounts Assistant, on a daily basis you will :

  • Perform daily and monthly office bank reconciliations against the cash books and the relevant back office system.
  • Update cheque log on a daily basis.
  • Carry out purchase ledger invoice processing ensuring prompt and accurate recording of liabilities, which includes obtaining the relevant signatories for authorisation, nominal cost coding and posting to the accounting system (Aqilla).
  • Carry out purchase ledger payments via BACS ensuring that all payments are raised in accordance with company policy for timely settlement of creditor accounts and staff expenses.
  • Ensure all cash received is processed and reconciled in line with FCA compliance regulations.
  • Assist with monthly journal postings to support the month end accounting process.
  • When required, update and reconcile commission statements received by e-commissions, excel or paper statements.
  • Request data to be updated on the BOS as and when required.
  • Deal with suppliers, auditors and the bank where necessary, exercising own judgement, based upon knowledge and experience, ensuring that all communications are accurately recorded.
  • Deal with Office Managers and administrators / account managers regarding commission queries.
  • To conduct the business of the Company at all times in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • To undertake any other task as may reasonably be required by the Company
  • Our client is seeking a candidate who is experienced in all of the areas mentioned including high volume reconciliations and purchase ledger work.
  • Your Excel skills will also be well developed and you are able to work as part of a small but very busy team of Accounts Assistants.

  • Knowledge of some limited month end procedures
  • Knowledge of internal banking and accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of the Data Protection and Money Laundering Acts
  • Attention to detail and ability to input data accurately
  • Develop and sustain good working relationships with : Clients, Colleagues, Banks, Suppliers, Ability to work sportively and jointly with colleagues
  • Confident and effective telephone skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure when necessary
  • Ability to construct written communications that are effective and meet business needs.
