A strong understanding of the range of preparation and extraction procedures and require no supervision. Able to mentor and delegate to junior members of the team and have a strong understanding of the regulations and the science behind techniques used.
Able to perform all tests and / or use of equipment without supervision.
Extract and analyse samples following the QMS guidelines and SOPs.
Work with other seniors where appropriate and other management to ensure results are reported within customer time frames.
Assist in the supervision and mentoring of band 1 and band 2 Technicians.
Responsible for ensuring the quality of work and maximising production of extractions / testing.
Responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the laboratory areas within their control.
Undertake analyses in accordance with Company procedures as requested by the Section Manager in an independent manner.
Ensure analysis is undertaken in a manner which meets the requirements of any relevant accreditation standards (e.g. ISO 17025 / MCERTS) and / or regulatory compliance standards (e.g. GLP / ISA / TLAS).
Ensure that all received items are goods receipted daily and effectively manage stock within their department. This includes authorising invoices, stock counts and reporting of stock.
Ensure all relevant QA / QC criteria are met for analysis undertaken.
Ensure the timely extraction of samples / reporting of data.
Assist with the development and validation of Laboratory SOPs.
Under supervision from the Analysts and Section Manager be responsible for running the designated instrument, calibration, quality control, data processing and system suitability recording.
Assist the Section Manager with audit actions, proficiency testing failure investigations and customer queries.
Follow quality procedures laid down in the quality manual and relevant Laboratory SOP manual.
Maintain the Laboratory in a tidy manner.
Comply with Health and Safety requirements of the site as Stated within Company policy, procedure and practice.
Other reasonable duties involving the welfare and efficient operation of the Laboratory at the request of a Section Manager, the Laboratory Manager, or other senior members of staff.
Any other duties specific to the Laboratory or Division where the position is held.
All staff are responsible for their own training records. Training records have to be up-to-date to progress within the career model.
Act as an ambassador for the company brand and values.

Completion of tasks to an excellent standard with no supervision.
Timely reporting of results along with fully recorded QC.
Fully maintain instrumentation, where appropriate, under supervision and keep a tidy work space.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience
Experience of working in a fast paced, high volume, ISO 17025 laboratory or similar.
Ability to work unsupervised.
