Role Dimension, Definition & Scope of Responsibilities :
Working with Aviva Central Services Finance team Finance (ACS) to ensure an effective and efficient function across the group.
Coordinating Finance Reporting and Operations activities across IT Finance our offshore partner WNS.
Representing IT Finance on relevant governance committees, working groups and, including wider Aviva Group governance and oversight committees and leading a team of 16.
Lead on the development and driving strategic cost insight across the global IT cost base of c.£800m.
Work with the IT Exec leadership team to gain a global view of the IT cost base and continue to drive efficiencies. Challenge the IT leadership team of structural, operational and delivery framework to create value.
Member of the IT Leadership.
Provide the Finance business support ( go to’ / first contact point) for the IT Exec and work with them to improve accountability, value and focus on global costs.
Work with the IT Exec and markets to track the IT strategy cost profile / investment proposal for the 3 year plan process.
Lead on providing expert commercial and financial insight into Global IT strategic change deliveries.
Production and review of the IT performance (monthly, quarterly and annual).
Responsible for pulling together the monthly IT cost base per market which includes both direct costs and recharges from ACS and lead the associated monthly Value & Demand meetings with the markets to discuss results, potential efficiencies / savings and the predicted outturn.
Delivering all aspects of IT financial performance globally including driving efficiencies and ultimately working with the IT Exec to land the plan IT numbers in each financial year.
Providing strategic insight of the IT cost base for value creation opportunities.
Driving the IT strategy to align to business and customer strategies, to create value for the shareholder and customer and investment is appropriately prioritised and included in plans etc.
Developing all relevant controls, policies and standards are embedded within the local finance teams to ensure delivery to financial plans.
Data Systems & Controls :
Role holder will undertake a regular review of the processes, systems and controls in their function and ensure recommendations for improvement are implemented.
Month end cycle.
Risk Framework systems, standards & policies.
All IT approvals processes resources, contracts, consultants.
Standards . Policies owned by the role holder are appropriate, effectively communicated, continuously reviewed, monitored for compliance and embedded.
Committees . The role holder will ensure that committees and sub-committees, for which he / she is the Chair or a key member of the Quorum, are appropriately staffed, and deliver effectively against their Terms of Reference.
Risk . Role holder will assure him / herself of :
Adequacy of systems and controls for mitigating the risks in all delegated and retained responsibilities, including systems to ensure that individuals in all roles to whom responsibilities have been delegated are competent to fulfil their roles.
The identification of risk and development of strategies to mitigate risk within your area of responsibility.
Planning and implementing appropriate processes and procedures for the management of operational and financial risks.
Risk Management :
Ensuring effective and embedded risk management is a key responsibility for all senior managers within Aviva. As part of this and within your area of delegated authority you are responsible for :
Ensuring that there is an appropriate culture in place and in line with the requirements of the Group and the Business Unit;
Understand and champion the Group’s Risk Management Framework, including all Risk Policies and linked Business Standards;
reporting, escalation and governance processes (including all legal and regulatory requirements);
Maintaining effective and efficient risk management and internal control systems, in line with agreed risk appetite, where necessary directing action plans to rectify ineffective controls and bring associated out of appetite risks within appetite.
Key Performance Indicators :
Effectively managing issues and delivering solutions in a timely manner.
Achievement of objectives within agreed budgets globally for ACS and associated recharges.
Continuous improvement with efficiency & effectiveness embedded within the team.
Successful control certifications (FRCF / SOx).
Employee survey results, voluntary turnover, achievement of talent management goals.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required :
Degree or recognised accountancy qualification (or equivalent, significant experience.)
Extensive post qualification experience
Strategic and transformational mindset
Leading global teams

Managing offshore & outsource relationships
Implementing risk management and control
Understanding commercial and financial disciplines
Strategic and transformational experience
Working closely with Group Centre to develop processes and lead delivery of required outcomes.
